Soft Liquid Metal Infused Conductive Sponges

Liquid metal droplets of gallium (Ga) and Ga-based alloys are traditionally incorporated as deformable additives into soft elastomers to make them conductive. However, such a strategy has not been implemented develop conductive sponges with real sponge-like characteristics. Herein, polyurethane-based Ga microdroplets embedded inside the polyurethane walls developed. The liquid phase (at 45 °C) solid room temperature) transition fillers shows temperature-dependent functional variations in mechanical, thermal, electrical properties on prepared composite sponges, which investigated detail. Unlike elastomers, sponge possesses excellent elastic recovery, at ?90%, conductivity durability without sacrificing structural integrity. reversible change resistivity range is remarkable. When account for 18% total volume, varies from infinite values (insulator) under no applied pressure 39.0 ? m 3.8 386.8 kPa. New opportunities developing flexible electrically tunable mechanical that can be variety future applications proposed.
